PENDING HOME:

Ryker- read carefully. Ryker had a wild rescue story and medical recovery.   Be sure you see my FULL bio all the way to instructions on how to apply. Some sites only show a bit of bios.  My full bio can be found at www.rockersrescue.org Upon an approved application, we schedule a meet to see if yall are a great match.

1.5yrs old. Male. Breed looks Black Mouth Curr mix. Around 36lbs but working on gaining some more.

History: Intake Date into our rescue 3/14/22.  He was said to be rescued by people, who later loaded him up in the bed of a truck to surrender him to animal control. On the way, Ryker jumped and was seriously injured. He had bones exposed and his front left leg was snapped with the bone sticking out. Many of his toes and parts of the pawpad were wiped away from the impact. The tops of his feet degloved. The people loaded him back up and surrendered him to the shelter. The shelter networked him and we stepped up to help this boy that was in so much pain. It's infuriating because this all could have been prevented. Ryker had a CUDDLY account and was selected for his story to be shared. Tons of people have sent him goodies, donations to help us with his expenses, and prayers. He has touched many hearts with his story. I will keep his pictures on here less gruesome... but we would like his future owner to see what he went through. He is truly a survivor.  Ryker had tons of cage rest, 3 surgeries on his leg, multiple days/weeks of therapy/ laser treatment etc/ as well as heartworm treatment.

Personality: Sweet! This boy loves being with people. He has a good demeanor about him. Likes to play with toys. Ryker is kennel trained and good around other dogs of various sizes. He is also good with cats and there is a 1yr old child in his foster home.  Ryker can be a little spooked at times with new things, he had to be kenneled a ton during all of his recovery. So now the fun begins of taking him places and spoiling him so he can experience all the new stuff.

Ryker's leg: Ryker has been released from any further vet visits. He finished weeks of therapy with his leg. At current, we have seen his leg have a swollen flare up every now and then. When it happens, he gets a pain/inflammation pill. We had his surgeon examine it and they say everything looks great! Swelling at times is to be expected. They are so proud of him and say it's miraculous considering how his leg started. They said his leg will likely never fully be normal, that arthritis will likely be a thing for him. His vet also said that people wouldn't even know he ever had overcame so much, unless you told them. On the normal, Ryker functions great even with his deformed paw pads and previous surgeries. Right now though, swelling can be expected at times as his leg continues to heal internally. We hope with time that will subside more. Overall, his new owner needs to be mindful to his leg though and watch for if he hurts it and needs his pill.

Vetting: So much vetting done. Ryker is neutered, fully vaccinated with yearly vaccines, underwent fast kill heartworm treatment and is on monthly preventions. On monthly flea tick prevention. Fecal/deworm. Etc. We will have spent thousands in donations on getting Ryker the help he needed.
