1yr old. Male. Breed looks Black Mouth Curr mix. Around 36lbs but working on gaining some more.
History: Intake Date into our rescue 3/14/22. He was said to be rescued by people, who later loaded him up in the bed of a truck to surrender him to animal control. On the way, Ryker jumped and was seriously injured. He had bones exposed and his front left leg was snapped with the bone sticking out. Many of his toes and parts of the pawpad were wiped away from the impact. The tops of his feet degloved. The people loaded him back up and surrendered him to the shelter. The shelter networked him and we stepped up to help this boy that was in so much pain. It's infuriating because this all could have been prevented. Ryker had a CUDDLY account and was selected for his story to be shared. Tons of people have sent him goodies, donations to help us with his expenses, and prayers. He has touched many hearts with his story. I will keep his pictures on here less gruesome... but we would like his future owner to see what he went through. He is truly a survivor. Ryker had tons of cage rest, 3 surgeries on his leg, multiple days/weeks of therapy/ laser treatment etc/ as well as finishing up heartworm treatment.
Personality: Sweet! This boy loves attention. Ryker is a very hyper boy but has had to stay calm for the healing process, so the vet has placed him on calming medicine for right now. A lot of his hyper comes from constantly being cooped up during his healing process though. In a proper home, and with all of this behind him, he should flourish. He is kennel trained and good around other dogs. Ryker may exhibit tenderness with his saved leg and possible early onset arthritis. His paw pads are also deformed. Ryker can be a little spooked at times with new things, but thats part of being a puppy missing out on so many good things life has to give. The horrible things this baby went through have taken a long time to fix. We are hoping once he has completed his heartworm treatment, he can enjoy going and doing more!
Vetting: So much vetting done. Ryker is neutered, fully vaccinated with yearly vaccines, heartworm positive but in heartworm treatment right now and should be negative soon. On monthly flea tick/heartworm prevention. Fecal/deworm. Etc. We will have spent thousands in donations on getting Ryker the help he needed.
