 UPDATE : PENDING ADOPTION

Be sure you see my FULL bio all the way to instructions on how to apply. Some sites only show a bit of bios.  My full bio can be found at www.rockersrescue.org Upon an approved application, we schedule a meet to see if yall are a great match.  PLEASE do not apply unless you have good vet history and responsible pet ownership. Read the following sections carefully regarding puppies.

Kinks-  Estimated birthday 12 /22/22.  8 weeks old on 2/16/23 and 4lbs. Weight on 2/24 is 5lbs.  Kinks can NOT leave us until after March 2nd which is his next vet appointment and second set of vaccines.

Breed: Chihuahua mix. Vet clinic thinks he is Chiweenie. (Chihuahua/ Dachshund) He has short stubby legs. A DNA test is the only way to truly know what he is. To know  breed for sure, we have a discount code for wisdom panel DNA test if owner would like to do one. (Around $60-$80) He is small, stubby, and adorable!

History: Kinks came to us from a local municipal shelter. They were worried of him contracting parvo or any other illness in a shelter setting, so they requested us to take him under our care once legal stray hold was complete. When we got Kinks, he was screaming when his shoulder was touched so we got him to our vet. The shoulder was swollen from his vaccine he had received so he got a pain injection and was doing much better. He also had to be treated for hookworms. We named him Kinks due to his kinked/ broken tail (which doesn't bother him, it is an old break) and his kinked ear. The ear may stick straight up with time, it currently fold backwards.

Personality: Kinks is spunky! We love our Kink Kink. This boy is a go-getter! He runs around the home, plays hard, loves toys, and enjoys good naps. He will bark when playing and sometimes just for your attention. He is a ham. Someone met him and said his personality is bigger than he is, and they are right! We have him pretty spoiled. This tiny boy is seeking a home where he can have a blast. You will have to keep a watchful eye, as it is like having a toddler in the home. Kinks is a happy puppy looking for his lifetime adventure family.

Kinks is kenneled when we leave the home and at bed time. We have his kennel next to the bed with a blanket draped mostly over it. He sleeps through the night. He enjoys having a large flat dog bed area in the main room where he can play with his toys and then nap.

Small dog: Kinks is TINY and must be supervised when outside. Even as he grows, he will be small enough to be prey for a bird. He needs to be watched. Even in the home, he is small and could easily be hurt. You need to be prepared to always keep a watchful eye on this little boy. He currently is not allowed to touch grass as he's only had 1 vaccine set. Potty training will be in his future. For now, he is strictly indoors for his safety, but we can tell he will love it when he is allowed to go out in the grass.

Puppies: Puppies have sharp teeth, they bite, scratch, bark, and potty. Adopter MUST be prepared for any puppy to do this. We do not take puppy adoption lightly.... you are their forever home. It is YOUR job to teach them potty training, to socialize them with other pets and people, and to integrate them properly into your household. This should be done in a kind and proper manner. You are the one that will mold them.

Protecting from disease: Puppies get multiple vaccine sets to fully protect them. We do not let puppies leave us until they've had 2 sets of vaccines. They are still not fully protected at that point and will require the other sets as they grow. Due to this, your puppy needs to AVOID high traffic areas with other dogs or places other pets have been. No putting them on grass in new places, no putting them on floors in pet stores or at the vet clinic. No letting other puppies near them. Don't even let another puppies owners pet them in public. You want to treat them like a baby avoiding germs you cannot see. Research parvo, as it is an invisible killer of puppies. Attaching to even shoes and clothing. It lasts in the ground for years as well. You want to keep your puppy safe while they work on getting all of their vaccine boosters to help protect them.

Finances: You will need to be able to afford a puppies future vet care which includes more rounds of puppy vaccines, monthly heartworm prevention, flea/tick prevention, accidents that may arise, food, leash, toys, collars as they grow,  etc. Dogs in general are costly when you are properly taking care of them.

Requires: Secure fenced yard and to only be outside when monitored. (See small dog section above)  Excellent vet history. Owner needs to be prepared for a puppy! Puppies are also a tripping hazard for seniors or anyone with mobility issues. No young children, as Kinks does bite play and it can hurt. Owner needs to be prepared to have puppy for the duration of his/her life (which can be over 10 years) Prepared for SMALL dog with small bladder, yes that means being ready for potty training, accidents, etc. A home already familiar with chihuahuas/small breed dogs and puppies would be great. Any other dogs in the home must be okay with a playful puppy and must have an appropriate demeanor to not accidentally hurt Kinks with their size or playfulness. We do adopt to out of state adopters but it is a lengthier process. We require photos and the adopter to travel to us in order to adopt.

Vetting with Puppies, read carefully: Puppies get 3-4 vaccine sets to protect them. They get a set every few weeks. These are VERY important.  Kinks will have started puppy vaccines and have had (2 sets) before being allowed to leave us. The adopter will be required to have remaining sets done per their vet. That means 3-4 weeks from his last set with us, he will need his 3rd set at your vet. 3-4 weeks from then, he would get his 4th and final set. Then he will be good for a year. It is important puppies get their 4 sets of vaccines to protect them. He will still need monthly heartworm prevention though based on his growing weight. Kinks has began a monthly heartworm/flea/tick prevention (adopter must be prepared to continue monthly heartworm prevention via their vet) .  Kinks has been dewormed (tested positive for hookworms) and will have a negative fecal before leaving us. Had vet check up. Will be microchipped via Petlink and our rescue has already paid the lifetime fee. When it comes to his neuter, we are looking at scheduling that in May to June at our vet clinic. Kinks has dangling dew claws that need removed at the same time.  The rescue will cover those fees unless the adopter wishes to do the neuter at their own vet clinic. That can be discussed. It will be required to be done by 6 months of age. We usually do the rabies vaccine at the time of spay/neuter as well.

Pictures and Videos: On our website, you should be able to click through all of the pets pictures. We upload quite a few. On our site you should be able to click "more pics" at the top, or scroll down to the bottom of the bio to click on them there. We usually have a video added as well.

About Applying to Adopt: This dog has a $100 adoption donation fee for approved app. This fee in no way covers all of the donations used to help this animal but it does help add back a little to help with the next life. If you wish to donate extra you can. We would be grateful.  We are a 501c3 non profit rescue that functions solely with volunteers and donations. Our adoption process can be found on our site at   Adoption Process (rockersrescue.org)  and the link to the app is below.  .
